The Diviner -concept sketch-

Yes, by God, I work in pencil now. I've lost my ability to ink, and have destroyed several drawings trying to relearn. So, I'm working in graphite, returning to what I started with way back in 1999 when I started drawing in earnest. With such a shadowy character, it was a lot of fun to work on. And me and wavy hair have a love hate relationship. I love how it looks, and I hate how hard it is to draw. >3>

So, this is an obscure character--an old mystic, called the Diviner--for a project CD and I are working on. It's a dark, yaoi rewrite of Sleeping Beauty, using our Black Tears characters to fill the roles. (So technically it's an AU/Fairytale.) It's an overused concept, but it was chosen for a reason. In fandom and original work, I've seen it done poorly, done well, done cutely, done humorously...well, we're going to take the Kaori Yuki approach: we're going to take it to a sad, dark place, and laugh along the way. There will be gay jokes, people will die...and hopefully, true love will conquer, or destroy it all.
